Philipp Augustin was very young when he discovered his love for the violin. He began to play the violin at the age of four, and enjoyed his first taste of success at the German music competition for children and youth, Jugend Musiziert. He built his first violin in his father’s workshop at the age of eight. Several years later, he attended the violin-making school in Mittenwald and continued his apprenticeship under Peter Westermann in Zurich. In addition to restoring grand masters’ instruments he was introduced to the world of sound enhancement and a particular way of making new instruments.
