Alessandro Scandroglio was born on 27th April 1979 in Castellanza, Italy. From 1987 to 2000 he studied the violin, starting at the secondary school “Luigi Majno” in a class with a musical curriculum taught by professor Simona Gilardi, and then at the “Istituto Musicale Pareggiato G.Puccini” in Gallarate, studying with the M° Ruggero Marchesi. In the last years of the conservatory he started playing the viola, as well as the violin, as his main instrument. Meanwhile, he obtained his diploma at the School of Arts in Varese where he first became interested in wood carving.

From 1997 to 2000 he studied violin making at the “Scuola Internazionale di Liuteria” in Parma with the M° Renato Scrollavezza and M° Marco Imer Piccinotti for the varnishing.

In 2000, after obtaining the diploma, he became an indipendent violin maker and opened his own laboratory in Casorate Sempione. The same year he also started his apprenticeship, that later was to become an active collaboration, with professor Piccinotti, who provided an important contribution to his training.
