Angelo Regaglia, for more than fifteen years, has been making string instruments in his workshop in Pattada, in the heart of Sardinia, in the district of Sassari. His working formation starts in the beginning of the early 90s. Through the creation of a cultural association called “La bottega del liutaio” ( The luthier’s workshop) in Pattada, in order to continue, some years later, with the participation to a two-year course of “liuteria”, sponsored and financed by the Counsillorship of Culture and Public Education of Sardinia Region. This fundamental course was carried out thanks to the interest of the famous violinist Salvatore Accardo and the effective participation of the master luthier in cooperation with his sons and some of his best and talentuous students. The strict relationship with the great luthier from Cremona, has allowed Angelo Regaglia to perfect his craftmanship and learn the sophisticated working techniques of the “classical method from Cremona” of which F.Bissolotti is, at present, one of the greatest experts and interpreters. According to this background, it can be absolutely confirmed the relationship between the great masters luthiers of the twentieth century and Angelo Regaglia. Following the advices and instructions of his master, Angelo Regaglia has elaborated his own stylistic dimension, improving his instinctive and rich in personality craftmanship, obtaining a perfect balance between instinctivity and stylistic fydelity. Even nowadays, supported by Francesco Bissolotti’s experience and advices, Angelo Regaglia builds the instruments of the classical quartet, violin, viola and cello, inspiring himself to the models from Cremona by Antonio Stradivari and Guarneri del Gesù.
