The origin of the name “Dogal” is as ancient as the adjective from which it derives, “dogale”, or “of the Doge”. This word has the same latin root as “duca” (duke, in English). It is the story of a family whose lineage is firmly rooted in the remote past of the antique Republic of Venice; a story which unfolds along a fine line of continuity: the evolution of music.
The Brocco family were natives of Venice and present in the region of Veneto since 1866 with a chain of music shops, agents for prestigious names such as Bechstein and Steinway and in close contact with world-famous artists. After the 2nd World War, the family decided to start developing their own production due to the lack of strings for bowed instruments on the market.
