A passion for music and a wish to combine my love of playing the violin with the creative and artistic energies of instrument-making led me to The Newark School of Violin Making. Here, I graduated with an Upper Merit and was awarded the Benslow Music Trust Prize.
On completion of my training, I returned to Scotland and soon after, moved to the beautiful Island of North Uist in the Outer Hebrides to set up my workshop. Inspired by the classical Italian masters, I concentrate on making new violins, violas and cellos using traditional techniques, as well as undertaking restorations and repairs. Whether as a player or a violin maker, I look forward to each new instrument and discovering its potential in the hands of the most discerning musicians.
