As early as 1890, the great-grandfather of the present proprietor, Jürgen Josef Klier, founded a small but successful workshop where he made fingerboards. That was back in Schönbach near Eger, in what is today the Czech Republic. But times moved on and war and expulsion took their toll. However, the family found a new home in Möhrendorf. In 1950, they eventually set up a new workshop.
Now the fourth generation of Kliers is making fingerboards for all manner of bowed and plucked instruments. All our fingerboards are made of ebony wood, most of which is imported from Africa. Our customers include master craftsmen, workshops, and companies both in and outside Germany.
