Today’s makers and players of the violin-famlily of instruments are fortunate to live during a renaissance in the field of violin making. After several centuries during which the methods of the great classical Italian violin makers remained shrouded in myth, misunderstanding, and forgotten knowledge, our own time has witnessed the reawakening of the classical craft of violinmaking. The last half century, through the accumulated insight of violin makers, scientists, and musicians, has produced a rich body of information on the violin. My new violins, violas, and cellos are the offspring of this body of knowledge. The foremost merit of my instruments is that they reflect, both in their extraordinary tone and graceful appearance, a thoughtful interpretation of the lessons of craft, art, and science.
