Born in France at  La Guerche de Bretagne on 26 January 1961, he resides and works in Cremona since 1978, from when he began his career as a self-taught luthier. 

In 1988 he won the first prize at the “Homage to Stradivari” Competition organized, in one single edition only, by Cremona to mark the 250th anniversary of the passing of the great violin maker.  Judges were Salvatore Accardo and Francesco Bissolotti.

The instrument was subsequently donated to Massimo Quarta, the best student of the Stauffer Foundation’s Master Classes.
