I have been making stringed instruments since 1993, graduating from the Newark School of Violin Making in 1999.

I enjoy the process from the draftsmanship side of planning an outline and making a mould through to the artistic application of varnish.

I like to make my own varnish and pigments and handpick my own tonewoods, regularly traveling to suppliers in Germany and England.

My work is inspired by the Golden age of violin making – the Venetian and Cremonese makers of the 17th and 18th Century and the Great London School of Double Bass making during the 1800s. I am keen to bring this classical approach to my work but also want to make new models to suit the needs of the modern player.
