I was born in 1961 in Zreče where I spent my childhood years and then I got a job as an electrician in the company Comet in 1979. In 1984 I decided to make a solo career. I performed music in different groups, and different types of music throughout Europe. During this time of professional playing I moved from Zrece to Vitanje, specifically to Sp.Dolič where I have my workshop today – fiddle studio. After fourteen years of my professional musical career I returned home and got a job in a carpenter’s workshop, where I gained a lot of necessary knowledge about wood. The violin got an important role in my life when I started to work in Music School in Slovenske Konjice. In collaboration with a professor of violin and later the master, already renowned manufacturer of violin, I began making a violin myself. My first mentor was Mr Vladimir Proskurnjak from Varaždin. Under his mentorship I made the first two violins.
Later my path took me to Zagreb to Mr Ivan Zajnko, where I gained a lot of new instructions and guidance.
Coincidentally, Mr Ciril Škerjanc, who is unfortunately already deceased, told me about Mr Jože Kantušer, a renowned fiddle master from Mittenwald in Germany, where I got some further education. Shorter (5 – 7 days) visits of various fiddle workshops in Switzerland (Luzern, Brienz), Germany (Mittenwald, Markneukirchen, Erlangen) and in the last years in Italy, where I get further knowledge and gain additional information about producing the string instruments, play an important role in my life. In 2010 I participated in an international competition of fiddle makers in Mittenwald in Germany (VI Internationale Geigenbauwettbewerb). In 2011 I attended the Wieniawski International Competition in Poznan in Poland and in 2012 in Cremona in Italy.
