Because the requirements are often quite specific it is suggested that if you have an interest in a particular type of instrument or bow, that you either phone, write or email your request upon which further details can be supplied.

Please feel free to enquire into the many other items available for sale if what you are looking for is not listed here. It goes without saying that all items offered are certified genuine and in fine playing condition. Adam Whone has an excellent reputation as restorer, maker and consultant and an equally respected and long career as an expert dealing in fine instruments and bows. Anyone considering purchasing an instrument or bow can always be assured of the highest degree of expertise and craftsmanship.

Instrument and Bow Sales

Instruments and bows ranging in quality from good student to top professional are always in stock and an interesting and wide selection is available. Every item sold is guaranteed in authenticity and in perfect working order. Nothing leaves the shop that has not passed the most stringent tests of approval.

 

Items not in stock can often be sought out and specific requirements can be kept on record until a suitable instrument or bow becomes available. Since we are very familiar with international trade, overseas customers are most welcome. London is the world centre of the violin market and there are many good reasons why you should look for an instrument or bow here, not least to benefit from the competitive prices that can often be found.

Instruments and Bows Sold on Commission or Purchased

Instruments and bows for sale will be gladly seen at any time. If not of interest, advice will always be offered as to the best possible method of disposing of your instrument or bow. Sales on commission are welcomed.

Valuations and Opinions

Valuations for insurance can be carried out by appointment and advice on the major musical instrument insurance companies offered.

Celebrating 50 years in the violin business –  

My first few years in the real world (1972 – 1982)

 

It is hard to believe that 50 years have passed since I arrived fresh-faced and not a little apprehensive at Newark Northgate train station to embark on my first year of study at the newly opened Newark School of Violin Making in Nottinghamshire.  In fact, I was in the very first intake of 12 students on the brand new course that started in September 1972 with tutors Maurice Bouette, Wilf Saunders and (slightly later) Glen Collins. I was also one of the two youngest, at not quite 16 years of age...

Find us

On foot

 

The premises are very accessible – just 3 or 4 minutes by foot from Acton Town underground station (Piccadilly or District line). Many musicians have used this stop for Bell rehearsal studios. Acton Town is half way from central London to Heathrow airport and all Piccadilly line trains from central London stop at Acton Town.

By car

 

It is very convenient by car. From the south, take the North Circular (Gunnersbury Avenue) towards Ealing from Chiswick roundabout which is also the junction with the M4. At the first major lights turn right down Gunnersbury Lane and third road on the right past Acton Town tube station is Mill Hill Road. From the North, continue south on Hanger Lane from Hanger Lane gyratory system and turn left into Gunnersbury Lane after crossing over Uxbridge Road.

Parking is available in Mill Hill Road residents bays with the exception of 9-10am and 3-4pm when a voucher can be used. Please ask for one on arrival.
