Outstanding German bow makers such as Bausch or Knopf broke away from trends and fashions early on. They caused a sensation with their own creations. I feel connected to these masters and use their work as a source of inspiration for my designs.

However, my own models also require that I produce all the components myself – from woodcuts to gold and silversmith work to mother-of-pearl processing. Or to put it another way: Where «C. Jochen Schmidt” says it, only Jochen Schmidt is in it.

I attach particular importance to a durable, natural surface of the pernambuco sticks. This is ensured by a high-quality linseed oil layer structure, which I produce according to an old family recipe.
