born in 1964, comes from Frankfurt am Main. He completed his apprenticeship with Franz Dijk on Lake Constance and with Eugen Sticht in Mainz, where he worked as his assistant from 1987 to 1988. In 1988 he moved to Berlin, where he devoted himself in particular to the restoration and repair of old master instruments in Andreas Kägi’s workshop. In 1993 he completed his master’s examination in Frankfurt am Main. In 1994 he founded the workshop Gentges & Scheit, violin maker, together with Kevin Gentges.
Felix Scheit is the winner of the 1995 violin making competition organized by the Mannheim insurance company. The selected instruments are loaned to winners of the national competition “Jugend musiziert”. In 2001 he was awarded four prizes in the cello, viola and violin sections at the Jacobs Stainer International Violin Making Competition. He also took part in the Triennale in Cremona and successfully took one of the top places. His instruments are played by soloists and orchestral musicians from all parts of the world, including Switzerland, Greece, Spain, Finland, Denmark, Latvia, Australia, Oman and South Korea. Numerous young violin makers were trained by him and employed who are successfully self-employed in Berlin and other places.
