BAILEY VIOLINS
I have been ‘setting-up’ instruments since I was thirteen years old when I bought an antique double bass to in order to learn to play it and noticed the bridge was far too high. I could barely press the strings down onto the fingerboard they were incorrectly set too high. The next job was to repair the damaged varnish, where the bass had been left too close to an open fire. My grandfather and father were piano makers, so my father taught me how to varnish.
Subsequently I owned many old basses and they all needed me to work on them to make them playable and bring them back to a good standard.
