PETER RICHTARIK
Peter Richtárik is a bow maker based in Bratislava, Slovakia. After he had received his diploma in natural sciences and worked in this field for several years, he began developing his skills in the art of designing and creating wooden jewelry. His love and passion for wood led him all the way to making bows. He has been handcrafting them since 2002.
At the very beginning of his career he gained valuable experience at Jiŕi Zelba’s studio in Prague who introduced him mainly to baroque bow making.
In 2008 he started an apprenticeship in bow making under Mr. Tibor Kovács in Paris, where he had a brilliant opportunity to learn more about modern bows as well as their restoration.
He attends exhibitions in Cremona, Vienna and Frankfurt where he displays his bows.
Nowadays, his bows are played by musicians all over Europe and overseas.
The bows are made of pernambuco wood of the highest quality based on models of French masters from the 19th century. When selecting a model, characteristics and properties of each individual stick are taken into consideration.
