Mark’s area of expertise includes all instruments of the violin family: violin, viola, cello, and double bass. Many violin shops hesitate to work on basses, but Mark welcomes this special work. He apprenticed from 1972-1973 with the violin maker Paul Schuback. Since that time he has worked on instruments in Ann Arbor, Interlochen Arts Camp, and his home town of Flint.
Mark has 43+ years of experience working on stringed instruments, but he has even more experience as a musician. He has a B.A. from the University of Michigan in double bass performance and has played in many orchestras including the Flint Youth Symphony and the Flint Symphony Orchestra. As a seasoned musician, Mark has a deep understanding of the needs and requirements of musicians and their teachers.
