Richard Alexander is of English origin and moved to Italy in 1975. Has studied at the International School of Violin Making in Cremona under the guidance of Maestro Giorgio Cè from 1975 to 1976 and then at the School of Violin Making in Parma under the guidance of Maestro Renato Scrollavezza 1976-1981. Worked as a result in several Italian cities before settling in 1990 in Source (Treviso), where he continues to perfect his work devoted to the construction and restoration of violins, violas and cellos; His instruments are played in different parts of the world, especially in Italy, England, Germany, Canada and the United States.
Richard Alexander has lectured extensively on violin making in conservatories and schools of music and his laboratory was visited by many schools of Veneto region and other regions of Italy. In fact, it has recently been published in a book written by the pupils of some schools of Treviso entitled “The Ancient Craft Shops of the Treviso” in which Richard Alexander and his lab have been presented together with other shops in the province of Treviso.
