A master violin or a master cello is an instrument that is personally made by a craftsman in all essential parts by hand. These are unique pieces that represent the personality of their master in sound and appearance.

A series or manufactory instrument is or was made in a larger workshop by several workers together. Individual parts were prepared mechanically. The first larger companies for the manufacture of stringed instruments were established after 1850 in Mirecourt, France, in the vicinity of the Saxon violin-making town of Markneukirchen and in Mittenwald in Bavaria. Violins, violas, cellos and double basses of very different qualities were made here. Many of these instruments are still played by musicians today and are highly valued.

Just as stringed instruments were manufactured in large numbers in such factories in the last century and the one before, violins, violas and cellos have been made in the same way in China for almost 30 years.

Thanks to good contacts with dealers in Switzerland and with the help of talented craftsmen and women, stringed instruments are made today with the best quality in terms of sound and craftsmanship.
